Buchan School Welcomes Olympian Zoe

by isleofman.com 25th May 2011
Zoe Gillings, The British No 1 Olympic snowboard athlete from Ronague, took time away from launching her new IsleofDeals.com business last week when she was invited by the “Friends at Buchan” (FAB) Junior School to attend their annual Fayre. Together with the Youth Commonwealth Games mascot –Tosha, Zoe posed for individual photographs with the school children to raise funds for the schools future development. The fayre was themed around sport in preparation for the Manx youth games in September. Zoe commented about the fayre, “It was great to be invited by FAB, I visit schools all over the UK and this was one of the most impressive I have ever been to. I received a really warm reception and the children were so polite throughout the day. I also witnessed some excellent dancing shows the children put on, its times like this when I’m really proud to be Manx.” Zoe spent 2 hours at the event where she met a large number of school children and chatted to them about the Olympics and what it’s like being an Olympic athlete. Alison Hope Hedley, Buchan junior schools head teacher commented, “On behalf of FAB and the school, Id like to thank Zoe for her help, we were really appreciative of her visit.” Zoe is now firmly concentrating on her gym training and her business, Isleofdeals.com. In the three weeks since launching, Zoe has already surpassed all expectations as she has already sent over 148 customers into just 4 businesses on the Island, she now has a database of over 1500 consumers looking for the next great deal (this number is growing daily) and some of the deals were so good they simply sold out.
