Ramsey Town Band Fundraising Boost

by isleofman.com 25th May 2011
Ramsey Town Band’s entry into the UK National Finals has received a boost thanks to a donation from the Boston Group’s Charitable Foundation. The band was handed a cheque for ?1,000 at an event at Milntown in Ramsey on Sunday afternoon. They need to raise around ?8,000 to send 28 members to the competition, being held in Cheltenham on 24th September 2011, after securing a place in the final by coming third out of 24 entries at the north-west regional heat. Speaking on behalf of the Boston Charitable Foundation, Jill Allen said: ‘Ramsey Town Band has done brilliantly to qualify for the finals in September and we’re delighted to be able to help them get there. This is a wonderful opportunity for all members of the band – let’s hope they can bring home the trophy!’ In thanking the Boston Charitable Foundation, Ramsey Town Band Chairperson, Viv Quane, said: ‘We are hugely grateful for this financial support, which helps us a great deal in meeting our fundraising target. We have a dedicated group of committee members and players, but we also rely on the extremely supportive local community.’ ENDS
