Fairbairn Private Bank has once again participated in the annual Learning at Work Day event run by the ‘Campaign for Learning’, a charity that promotes workplace training across the UK. The bank recently held their second Learning at Work Day and worked closely with the human resources, training and development company, Breakthrough Dynamics, to deliver a series of staff workshops designed to develop a range of personal skills. Lynn Kelly, senior training executive at Fairbairn Private Bank, said: “Due to the success of our first Learning at Work Day in 2010, we were keen to hold another event and we now plan to hold the event on an annual basis in both our Isle of Man and Jersey offices. We are delighted to offer a new type of learning, ‘self-directed learning’, which encourages staff to choose which subjects are important to them. At Fairbairn Private Bank, we place great value on ongoing development of our staff and this was recently recognised when we were once again listed in the Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2011, ranking very impressively at number 17.” Each year, thousands of organisations take part in the Campaign for Learning, which helps individuals to learn new skills they can use in the workplace, and Fairbairn Private Bank was the first business in the Isle of Man to get involved in the initiative. The bank continues to support the campaign by asking its employees to choose which subject areas they would like to explore, and the bank then offers fun, skills-related workshops on the subjects they select. Recent subjects included ask the right questions, get motivated, understanding others better, enrich your communications and how to eat or drink less.
