Isle of Man Hotel Wins Silver Accolade

by isleofman.com 26th May 2011
An Isle of Man four-star hotel has been awarded a silver accolade for providing top quality service and hospitality. The Regency Hotel, located on Queens Promenade in Douglas, has earned the prestigious status by Quality in Tourism having proven itself to be an ‘all round’ and exceptionally high standard performer. Quality in Tourism is the independent body contracted by Isle of Man Tourism to award the independent grading and adheres to national standards known as the National Quality Assessment Scheme (NQAS) working in conjunction with VisitBritain. The scheme, also operating in the UK, awards properties gold and silver accolades, alongside their star ratings, for exceptional quality and takes the form of an inspector anonymously visiting a business for a routine evaluation. Following their visit the business receives an independent rating and a feedback report is provided. The silver award demonstrates that the hotel has exceeded expectations in both the comfort and cleanliness in bedrooms and bathrooms and shows that the proprietor has excelled in its standard of service and hospitality throughout the guest’s stay. Minister for the Department of Economic Development, Allan Bell MHK, said: ‘A silver accolade is a tremendous achievement for the Regency Hotel which is due to their extremely hard work. I congratulate and wish to thank the management and staff for their dedication and the commitment they have given to the Island’s tourism industry. ‘It is important that we continue to work with the Tourism industry in improving the Island’s quality standards and facilities in line with the expectations of our visitors and I am pleased that all our highest achievers can be recognised by way of these prestigious accolades.’ Tim Baggaley, the Regency Hotel’s General Manager, is thrilled with the news that he has won silver accolade status. He said: ‘The Regency is delighted to receive a silver accolade and aims to cater for the discerning business and leisure guest to try and exceed their expectations.’ The Isle of Man Department of Economic Development’s Tourism Division is committed to working with the tourism industry in improving the quality of service provided to all their visitors.
