Accountancy Firm Donates ?300 To Local Photographic Society Moore Stephens Isle of Man, leading providers of accountancy, consultancy and multi-sector wealth management services have sponsored The Western (IOM) Photographic Society (WPS) Annual Open and Photographer of the Year Competition for the second year. The firm joined the WPS at its annual dinner where Dawn Webb, director for Moore Stephens Isle of Man, presented ?300 in sponsorship which helped bring guest judge, Christine Widdall, DPAGB, AFIAP and her husband John, to the Island to host the event. Christine also gave a public lecture on Gestalt theory in photography called “Playing The Rules” attended by over 50 people. “It’s great to get involved with local societies”, said Dawn Webb, director for Moore Stephens Isle of Man, “We’re pleased to help bring a well respected UK judge over to capture our Island in all its photo glory and are grateful to Christine for taking the time to comment on some of our team’s photos in a friendly staff competition.” This is the second year that Moore Stephens has sponsored the WPS having donated a cut glass trophy to the society for the “Image of the Year” award. This year, that went to Patricia Tutt, ARPS, for her digital projected image Girls With Gadgets, whilst Dr. Ruth Nicholls, LRPS, CPAGB, picked up the Photographer of the Year award for the highest overall scoring. “Winning the trophy was a very pleasant surprise”, said Patricia Tutt, ARPS, chairman of the WPS, “The sponsorship from Moore Stephens is much appreciated. Without it, we would not be able to invite an off-island judge of Christine’s calibre. She has given us an up-to-date measure of our work and will help us to greater success in our photography.” Visit www.westernphotographic.org to view the 2011 competition entries and Christine’s blog, http://chriswiddall.wordpress.com/ to see the photos taken during her visit.
