TT Commuter Trains

by isleofman.com 27th May 2011
TT commuter trains start running on Tuesday (31 May) and will continue on all working days during TT fortnight. Daily steam trains will carry residents from the south to Douglas for 8.45am, with the return journey departing Douglas steam railway station at 5.45pm. Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said: ‘The additional steam journeys remain an excellent way for workers to let the train take the strain during TT. With ticket prices pegged to the same as bus fares it is excellent value for money. The other benefits are that it reduces traffic congestion around Douglas and means passengers may also save on car parking fees.’ Commuter train travel dates in Practice Week are Tuesday 31 May to Friday 3 June. Race Week commuter trains run on Monday 6 June until Thursday 9 June. Valid resident tickets, Island Explorer tickets and Bus Saver Tickets are all accepted for travel on the commuter trains. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on the day of travel at any staffed railway station. Ballasalla is the last stop on the inward journey in order to speed up the journey time.
