Successful treasure hunters at the Curraghs Wildlife Park received cuddly meerkats and book tokens from Hon David Cretney MHK on Sunday.
The Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, which operates the Wildlife Park, presented prizes to winners who located all the meerkat Easter eggs hidden around the 40 acres park during the school holidays.
First prize went to Abigayil Mellor age seven from Ramsey. She won a large cuddly meerkat and ?25 book token.
Second place was an entry from Chloe and Aalish Webster of Ballabeg, who each received a meerkat plus a book token of ?20 to share.
James Taubman of St John’s was third (?15 book token) and Kirsty Cannan of Peel, fourth (?10) and both also won a meerkat.
The park raised ?375 from the treasure hunt which will go towards EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria) ape campaign for 2011.
Hon David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said: ‘The Easter treasure hunt is always popular and hundreds of people returned correct entry forms. The first 10 correct entries drawn won the prizes so well done to all of them.
‘Visitor numbers were high over the Easter holidays and feedback about the new play area facilities has been very positive.’
The park is open daily until the end of October from 10am until 6pm except during TT fortnight. With roads scheduled to close at 6pm for qualifying sessions from Monday 30 May, the Park will close at 5pm.
On race days vehicular access to the park is still available via the former railway line. Directions: Take the A13 Jurby road out of Ramsey to Ballaugh Cronk, turn left along the B9, then, about 10 metres from the TT Course, turn left down the old train line which gives access to the Wildlife Park car park.
All visitors can take advantage of half price admission when the roads are closed for TT Races.
