Murray’s Road School Raise Money for Charity

by isleofman.com 2nd June 2011
The Knitting Club at Murray’s Road School presented a cheque for ?23.70 to Breakthrough Breast Cancer and a further cheque for ?38.20 to Save the Children. The young knitters (from Years 3, 4 and 5) knitted chicks which, when completed, were filled with an Easter egg. These were then auctioned during the Easter Family Night that was held at the school. Representatives from the two charities came to collect the cheques in May and were interested to meet the children and share their skills. Many of the children were new to knitting when they joined the club in the Autumn term. The club is held at the school on a Thursday evening and has between 10 and 15 members with parents and grandparents of pupils in the school offering support to the knitters. ENDS
