Local corporate IT supplier Skanco Business Systems Ltd has announced the appointment of four new technical personnel to its growing staff. Paul Krief, Richard Hall and Craig Cregeen have joined the team as Technical Engineers and Martin Kinrade has joined as a Technical Apprentice.
The appointments are all to new positions and come as part of a large expansion in Skanco’s business. Technical Manager Andrew Kermode commented: “The new appointments are partly motivated by our having recently acquired a significant contract for support, server maintenance and procurement for the Isle of Man Government. However, the new technical staff will be available to all of our private clients, so we will be able to offer even better service across the board. The new engineers have strong skills in a variety of product areas and have integrated really well with the existing team.”
The new additions have brought Skanco’s technical team to a total of eighteen engineers and apprentices. The team are proficient in a wide range of key technologies, including Microsoft, Cisco, HP, VMWare, Citrix and Apple products. In keeping with Skanco’s philosophy of supporting the local community, all four of the new staff are Manx workers. Martin, Richard and Craig were educated on the Island.
Paul Krief has over twenty five years of experience in computing and holds a number of Microsoft qualifications. He commented on his move to Skanco: “It’s great to work with such a large and professional team. There are always opportunities to bounce ideas off other team members with different specialities and come up with new ways to solve problems.”
He has joined the team alongside Richard Hall, a seasoned systems administrator and technical consultant with an impressive list of Microsoft certifications to his credit. Richard added: “The technical team at Skanco have a great wealth of experience and are happy to share this will their colleagues. It has been easy integrating into the team.”
The third Technical Engineer to join recently is Craig Cregeen. Craig is currently studying to become a Microsoft Technical Desktop Specialist, having moved into the IT industry after leaving Castle Rushen High School in 2006. Craig commented: “Not only is Skanco a really supportive environment, it is also great to work on such a diverse range of clients, particularly with the new Government support contract that began in April.”
Martin Kinrade has joined Skanco as an apprentice after completing his studies at the Isle of Man College last year, where he gained a BTEC in computer networking with merit. Martin commented: “I am already really enjoying my time at Skanco. Above all, I am learning a lot because there is such a huge wealth of knowledge amongst the rest of the team here.”
Skanco are continuing to expand their team of engineers and posts are still being advertised.
