Royal London360 Cyclists Perform well in NW Youth Tour

There were some excellent performances from the thirty Team Royal London 360 riders who took part in the recent North West International Youth Tour, staged at locations in Blackpool, Lancaster and Preston. More than 300 youngsters from Britain and Europe braved the windy and sometimes very wet conditions to compete in the event, which was the fifth round of British Cycling's national youth series. The Manx youngsters were in the thick of the action throughout the three days of competition, producing 32 top ten stage placings and fifteen top twenty overall finishes. In the under 16's class Jake Kelly was the leading RL360 rider in an impressive 16th spot overall, just 35 seconds behind the winner Nathan Van Hooydonck from Belgium. Joshua Knights was 20th a further 1.31 behind, with Leon Mazzone and Jamie Dudley 58th and 59th in a large field of over 70 riders. A brace of top 10 finishes earned Nathan Draper a very good 13th place overall in the under 14's category. Matthew Draper was a fine 15th, Joseph Haddock 22nd, double crash victim Matthew Bostock 28th and Owen Dudley, who lost a lot of time with a snapped gear cable, 50th. Michael Moss pulled out on the last day while lying 54th on GC. The under 16 and under 14 girls raced separately, with Anna Christian and Sophie Black finishing 18th and 26th in the former and Elizabeth Holden, Breeshey Cain and Phoebe Ferguson 20th, 24th and 28th in the latter. An excellent seventh p[ace on the testing second stage put Conor Davies in seventh spot overall in the under 12's category. Thomas Bostock was 17th and Eleanor Davies the second girl in 22nd position. William Draper was 25th, Daniel Scarffe 39th and Tara Ferguson 40th (6th girl). In the younger age groups Charlie Gibson, Adam Scarffe and Max Walker rode well to take 7th, 8th and 9th respectively in the under 10's. Relative newcomer Emily Bridson was a respectable 19th (4th girl), Blae Cain 23rd (7th girl) and Charlie Moss 26th (9th girl). In the under 8's Matthew Black was 5th, Zac Walker 7th and Darcy Cain 8th (2nd girl). Ends
