Steam Packet Company Confirm Further Increase in TT Visitors In 2011

by isleofman.com 13th June 2011
With the last of the TT visitors heading home, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company can now confirm passenger numbers for this year’s event. During the TT period, a total of 10,866 bikes travelled to the Island. This is an increase of 5.5% on 2010 numbers, which were 4% up on 2009. Total passenger numbers were 33,712, an increase of 6.7% on 2010. Chief Executive Mark Woodward said, ‘I am delighted that this year we have seen a further increase in visitor numbers to the TT, which is clearly maintaining its position at the forefront of the road racing calendar. With Manannan, the Ben-my-Chree and P&O Express operating this year’s TT schedule, we have had capacity to transport more than 4,000 passengers a day. ‘TT is clearly an extremely busy time for us and I would like to thank all Steam Packet Company staff who have worked around the clock to ensure that we have been able to transport the large number of visitors the world-leading event attracts to the Island.’ ENDS
