The Isle of Man Aerospace Cluster (IOMAC) has announced the launch of an influential new programme designed to benchmark its participating members against world class business standards and to assist the Cluster’s competitiveness globally. The Journey to Process Excellence (JTPE) is a business improvement tool based on Rolls-Royce’s model of process excellence. It enables businesses in the aerospace and high-tech manufacturing sectors to measure their own capabilities and resilience against a world class model and from there develop a tailored strategy to drive improvement for elements such as quality management, leadership and process flow. The JTPE programme is designed to help all IOMAC members prove how they will deliver world class products and services in the future and will also provide firm evidence to IOMAC customers that continuous improvement is part of their business culture. The first cohort of five participating companies have already been confirmed: Swagelok, Target Aerospace, Manx Engineers, European Aviation Maintenance and GE Aviation. All IOMAC members will undertake the programme eventually. Minister for Economic Development, Allan Bell MHK commented: “This initiative helps to demonstrate that the aerospace cluster is engaged with a recognised business improvement tool and should serve as a powerful message to the industry that we are fit for purpose and able to prove that we are lean, professional, joined up and resilient.
