Conditions were perfect for the 341 competitors who turned out at the NSC last Tuesday night for round 9 of Team Royal London 360 Isle of Man's youth league. The novices race got the programme off to a flying start with Peter Lloyd overtaking Jemma Quayle in the closing stages to snatch the win. Chester Bell was a close third and Rebecca Walmsley came home alone to claim fourth. Archie Dunn edged out Sophie Keen for fifth and Kate Morris slipped away from the main bunch to grab seventh. Lisa Martin, Rebecca Cooil and Herbie Hampton rounded off the top ten. In the born 2006 & later category Corey Peters outsprinted Ivan Sorby and Zachary Dowson to score his second success of the series. Cian Jackson led Jack Keenan in for fourth and Drystan Sewell got the better of Harry Fox, Alfie Swales and Charlie Convery in the battle for sixth. Hollie Palmer was the leading girl in 19th place. Harry Kneen powered away from the field for a good solo victory in the born 2005 class. Niall Colquitt was a safe second ahead of Mairi Harrison and Chloe Crellin, with Nathan Cannell outgunning Bradley Kneen, Chloe Comaish, Oliver Corkish and Harvey Coole for fifth. Liam Smith led Luke Saunders and Jacob O'Boyle over the line to complete the top ten leader board. Zac Walker overcame breakaway companion Dillon Dowson in the final sprint to notch up his eighth win in the born 2004 event. Ralph Holden pipped Joshua Dudley for third and James Devereau got the verdict over Oliver Harrison, Adam Price, Nathan Slack, Daniel Keen, Billy Kennedy and Toby Craig in the bunch gallop for fifth place. Lucy Corlett took the girls' prize in 20th position. Jake Wilson came from behind to beat Jonty Bregazzi and Percy Hampton to the line in the born 2002 three lapper. Thomas Skillicorn lost touch with the three leaders in the closing stages but managed to keep chasers Jack Christian and Matthew Black at bay to claim fourth. Tyler Hannay outsprinted Jamie Gelling and Darcy Cain for seventh, with Thomas Young heading Ryan Quirk home for 10th. Coming out on top in a very close finish, a determined Will Corkill took the chequered flag ahead of Aaron Lund and James Harrison to record his second win in the born 2001 class. Corrin Leeming and Nathanael Tyson settled for fourth and fifth after being dropped on the last lap, while the fast finishing Blae Cain made a late charge to secure the girls' honours in sixth spot. A last lap attack gave 2010 champion Max Walker his first win of the year in the born 2000 age group. Juan Kneen held off Adam Scarffe and Tosh Teare in the tussle for the runners-up spot and Emma Draper took the girls' award in a lonely fifth place. Emma's brother Matthew had another easy victory in the born 2000 & earlier grouping, crossing the line with a clear advantage over Sam Batey and Tara Ferguson. In the under 10 racing bikes Charlie Gibson had to work hard to fend off Max Walker, Adam Scarffe and Tosh Teare in the final sprint. Emily Bridson was the first girl in a very good ninth place. The under 12's race also ended in a sprint finish with William Draper gaining a comfortable win ahead of Thomas Bostock, Conor Davies, Ben Christian and Eleanor Davies. The under 16 racing bikes provided a thrilling finale to the evening's racing with Jake Kelly taking the win by the narrowest of margins from the ever improving Jamie Dudley and Josh Knights. Matthew Davies led the rest of the field in for fourth and Anna Christian secured the girls' honours in tenth spot.
