Pupils from an Anglesey primary school received a warm welcome from Manx2.com at RAF Valley Airport recently. Morswyn School’s years one and two classes were given a guided tour of both the terminal and an aircraft, to help with the ‘travel’ theme they are studying this term.
After being guided through the departure lounge by Airport Manager, Sam Betley, the children were welcomed on board by Captain Tara McKernan and First Officer Heiko Lehr and given the opportunity to sit in the cockpit. Year two pupil Kristin Parry commented: ‘Sitting in the captain’s chair was great because I could see all of the controls. I would like to be a pilot one day!’
With partner carrier FLM Aviation, Manx2.com is contracted by the Welsh Assembly Government to provide flights from Anglesey to Cardiff. It is also selling tickets for a summer season of flights between the Isle of Man and Anglesey, both of which are the only commercial flights operating from RAF Valley. In addition, Manx2.com also sold tickets for flights between Cardiff and the Isle of Man during the TT festival.
Manx2.com Chairman Noel Hayes said: ‘The Welsh flights are proving very popular and ticket sales have been pleasing. We’re glad we were able to help enhance Morswyn Primary School pupils’ experience during their visit, especially as the Valley to Cardiff route plays such an important role in keeping Wales connected.
‘It seems everyone involved in the airport tour enjoyed themselves and we would like to offer the same warm welcome to other school and community groups in the future.’
