Appleby Help The Children’s Centre Golf Day Swing Into Action

by isleofman.com 20th June 2011
The Children’s Centre annual golf day at Mount Murray raised ?6,500 for the charity’s work across the Island. As always the event - which was sponsored by Appleby - was well supported and began with coffee and bacon baps in the clubhouse. The emphasis was on fun and fundraising but there’s always a competitive side to the event. This year Friends Provident won the team prize, with MAC Financial second and Appleby in third. MAC Financial sponsored the ‘Nearest The Pin’ prize which was won by Tom Harris from the OMS team. Following the rounds of golf a celebratory dinner was held in the Wentworth Suite. Michelle O’Malley, Fundraising Manager at The Children’s Centre, thanked all the teams and sponsors for supporting the event. She said: “We’re very grateful to everyone who came along, for giving up their time to support the event and for their generosity in supporting The Children’s Centre. Thanks also to the staff at Mount Murray for their support. We hope that everyone enjoyed the day and thanks to Appleby’s generous support absolutely every penny raised will go towards supporting our work with children, young people and families.” Appleby has shown continued support for this event by repeatedly entering a team year on year. This year they decided to cement this support by becoming the sponsor for the day. Sean Dowling, Managing Partner of Appleby’s Isle of Man office, said: “The golf day was a great success - we were lucky that the rainy weather cleared up for the afternoon’s play! The players all seemed to enjoy the event which, as ever, was very well organised by the team at The Childrens’ Centre. I have always been particularly impressed by the work the organisation does on the Island and we at Appleby are genuinely pleased to have been able to support them in this way.” - ENDS -
