A total of eleven Team Royal London 360 riders have qualified for the British national final of the GHS juvenile 10 mile time trial championship. The Manx youngsters booked their places in a special Isle of Man heat, staged at Jurby on Wednesday, 15th June..
The Isle of Man riders usually have to contest the Liverpool District qualifier, but as this clashed with a round of British Cycling's youth circuit race series the governing body of the sport, Cycling Time Trials (CTT), gave special permission for an extra heat to be staged on the island.
Top ranking CTT officials Sheila Hardy (chairman) Keith Lawton (national competitions secretary) and Val Ross (Liverpool District treasurer) came over to the island to observe the event and present the medals and certificates.
Jake Kelly, Josh Knights and Jamie Dudley gained automatic entry to the final by finishing first, second and third in impressive times of 23 mins.07 secs, 24.01 and 24.27 respectively. Leon Mazzone, Joseph Haddock and Conor Davies also got through as the quickest 14, 13 and 12 year old boys.
In the girls' competition Victoria Kinrade, Anna Christian and Sophie Black booked their places as the top three girls, with Phoebe Ferguson and Eleanor Davies joining them as the best 13 and 12 year olds.
The final takes place in Seagrave, Notts on Saturday, 10th September.
