Sefton Group Appoints Group Director of Hotels and Leisure.

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2011
The Sefton Group has appointed Adrian Brockhouse as Group Director of Hotels and Leisure. Previously Managing Director at Palace Hotel & Casino, Adrian’s new role involves overall responsibility for the Sefton Group’s three hotels – The Sefton, Palace Hotel & Casino and Sefton Express – as well as the Group’s gaming and leisure facilities, including Colours nightclub and Palace Cinema. Adrian, 46, started his career in 1984 working in casinos in Birmingham before spending several years in the cruise ship industry. He returned to Birmingham in 1991 to join the Stakis Group and moved to the Island in 1997 as Casino Manager for what was then the Stakis Hotel, and is now the Palace Hotel & Casino. Two years later, he received a Post Graduate Certificate in Casino Management at Salford University while still working as Casino Manager. ‘My new role presents a fantastic challenge for me,’ said Adrian, who lives in Glen Vine with his wife, Carol, and two children. ‘It’s so diverse - there are so many different strands to the business, which means it’s always busy, yet it’s also hugely rewarding. I have a great team working with me and that is a big plus given the breadth of responsibilities that come with the role. ‘When we ended our association with Hilton in November last year, and returned to the Palace Hotel & Casino name, it gave us the ability to fully promote and cross-sell our three Sefton Group hotels. This has been of great commercial benefit to us and one of my primary goals is to further develop this facet of the business. ‘In terms of the Palace Hotel & Casino complex, we want to return to what made the Palace such a popular venue in the past. We recently saw the return of Whispers Bar, which opens midnight till 3am on Friday and Saturday, and we’re bringing back cabaret nights, live bands and dinner dances to the Shearwater Suite, which will include some acts brought over from the UK. All this will, of course, complement the Casino and our Paragon and Atlantis Restaurants. Ultimately, our aim is to provide what people want - a night of fun and entertainment under the one roof.’ Sefton Group Chief Executive Brett Martin said: ‘Adrian’s new role is recognition of his hard work and commitment to the Group. His knowledge and experience will be vital over the coming years, as we look to develop our services and facilities. These are challenging times generally, but I’m confident Adrian has the skills to ensure that our hotel and leisure business continues to prosper.’ ENDS
