Team Microgaming Isle of Man at British Junior RR Championships This Weekend

by isleofman.com 28th June 2011
A team of four Team Microgaming Isle of Man junior riders will compete in this Sunday’s British Junior Road Race Championships in County Durham. Jack Wolstencroft, Alex Haddock, Jonathan Cregeen and recently crowned Manx Junior Road Race Champion Thomas Mazzone, are on the start list of 86 riders facing an 88-mile race based around Barnard Castle. The field will complete three laps of a hilly 27km circuit before switching to a 13km finishing loop which includes the finish in Barnard Castle. Isle of Man riders have a good recent record in the British Junior road race. Chris Nicholson won bronze last year and Tim Kennaugh narrowly missed taking the title in 2009 when he finished second in a two man sprint with George Atkins. Peter Kennaugh won the title in 2007 and the bronze medal in the 2006 race. Mark Cavendish won the silver medal in 2003. Among the favourites to take the title this year are three Hargroves Cycles riders - Jonathan Dibben, Owain Doull and Alistair Slater - who dominated this year’s Sleepwell Hotels Isle of Man Youth Tour by winning all three stages and the general classification. - ENDS -
