The first phase of the project to move the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team (NNPT) to Ramsey Town Hall has commenced, with the NNPT transferring its operations to the first floor of Ramsey Courthouse.
However, it is ‘business as usual’ in terms of the service provided to the public and the Police counter will remain in the same position at the Courthouse for the next three months.
Design and planning work is now being undertaken for the alterations to Ramsey Town Hall necessary to accommodate the NNPT.
The ground floor of the Courthouse is being converted into Ramsey’s new Post Office which is scheduled to open its doors at the beginning of August.
The Police and Post Office moves are an integral part of an overall strategy to regenerate the town centre and enhance facilities for residents and businesses in the north of the Island.
NNPT Inspector Richard Power said: ‘Members of the public can be assured that there will be no disruption to Police services over the next three months whilst this work takes place. The creation of new Police Station at the Town Hall represents a very positive step forward in terms of partnership working for the benefit of the northern neighbourhood. Our focus is very much on community policing and dealing with local issues at a local level, and we will continue to work closely with all local authorities and agencies in a determined effort to deliver the best possible service.’
