324 Competitors for Round 11 of Royal London 360 Cycling League

by isleofman.com 1st July 2011
Conditions were perfect for the 324 competitors who turned out at a sunny National Sports Centre last Tuesday night for round 11 of Team Royal London 360's youth cycling league. Peter Lloyd got the preceedings underway with a clear win in the novices class. Archie Dunn edged out leading girl Jemma Quayle for second and Alexander Galloway beat Matthew Gledhill and Chester Bell to the line for fourth. Kate Morris pipped Belinda Dennett, Sophie Keen and Rebecca Walmsley for seventh, with T.J.Teare and Rubi Skillen coming in ahead of the main chasing bunch to claim 11th and 12th respectively. Newcomer Lennon Moore did well to finish 28th on his debut. In the born 2006 & later age group Zachary Dowson fought off a strong challenge from Corey Peters to notch up his seventh success of the series. Jack Keenan held off David Sargent and Ivan Sorby in the dash for third and Cian Jackson got the better of Drystan Sewell in the battle for sixth. Peter Cope was a safe eighth and Harry Fox outgunned Kazu Senior, Alfie Swales, Edward Marsh, Ryan Edwards and Harry Callin in the gallop for ninth. Lucy Barnett was the first girl in 19th place. Harry Kneen overcame breakaway partner Niall Colquitt to bag maximum points in the born 2005 category. Chloe Dillon was a safe third and Mairi Harrison headed Nathan Cannell home for fourth, while Oliver Corkish came from behind to snatch sixth from Bradley Kneen and Jacob O'Boyle. Ballasalla's Chloe Comaish led Harvey Coole and James Scott home for ninth, with Luke Saunders winning the bunch sprint to complete the top twelve leader board. Leading from start to finish, Dillon Dowson powered to an impressive solo victory in the born 2004 event. Zac Walker eased ahead of Joshua Dudley to take runners-up spot and Cameron Dudley got the verdict over Nathan Slack, James Devereau, Billy Kennedy and Adam Price in the battle for fourth. Daniel Keen and top girl Mia Worthington rounded off the top ten. Jake Wilson stole a march on fellow escapees Percy Hampton and Jonty Bregazzi to take the honours in the born 2003 race. Jack Christian outsprinted Matthew Black for fourth and Tyler Hannay was too strong for Jamie Gelling, Thomas Young and Ryan Quirk in the tussle for sixth. Darcy Cain took the girls' prize in a lonely tenth place. Aaron Lund overcame Will Corkill in a closely contested sprint finish to win the born 2002 class. James Harrison beat Nicholas Kissack for third and Corrin Leeming finished on his own for fifth. Blae Cain just managed to stay clear of fast finishing chasers Nathanael Tyson, Charlie Moss and Shellan Leeming to secure sixth. A last lap attack gave Tosh Teare victory in the born 2001 age group. Max Walker and Adam Scarffe were second and third, with Juan Kneen edging Emma Draper for fourth. Matthew Draper rode clear of the field for a clear win in the born 2000 & earlier three lapper. Tara Ferguson beat Sam Mills in the gallop for second place. Charlie Gibson came out on top in the bunch sprint at the end of the under 10 racing bikes. Max Walker and Adam Scarffe filled the remaining places on the podium, with Aaron Lund, Tosh Teare and Tyler Cain rounding off the top six. An aggressive William Draper was the impressive winner of the under 12 racing bikes. Draper got away from the field in an early attack but was eventually caught by Conor Davies. In text book fashion Draper went again and this time Davies was unable to respond and had to settle for a well deserved second place. Thomas Bostock was third followed by Callum Clague, Eleanor Davies and Daniel Scarffe. The under 16's race was fast and furious as usual with Jake Kelly eventually taking the victory from Josh Knights, Jamie Dudley and Nick Corlett.
