The Isle of Man Farmers’ Markets will be celebrating Tynwald Day 2011 in the courtyard at Tynwald Mills. Strategically placed under the recently constructed all-weather canopy, the Isle of Man Farmers’ Markets will have for sale Manx-grown plants and vegetables, Manx-reared meat and locally produced foods. This is the second year that the Farmers’ Markets have chosen Tynwald Mills for the location of their Tynwald Day market. Tynwald Mills provides ample parking and toilet facilities as well as a relaxed and scenic setting only a few minutes from Tynwald Hill.
Come along and meet the Manx-based producers: Sheila from The Farmers Den will be selling her Pooil Vaaish-grown vegetables, preserves and baked goods and Dot of Purely Plants & Purely Plants Produce in Lezayre will have her stunning flowering plants, her organic vegetables and eggs for sale. Ballakilley Farm will be bringing their renowned fresh Gloucester Old Spot pork products down from Bride and Ellen, based in Douglas, of my Canadian, will have freshly-prepared salads, spreads and sweets. Lynn and Joe, The Biscuit Barrel, will provide baked goods and Jim from Island Sheepskin Rugs will have his selection of Manx sheepskin for sale.
The Farmers’ Market have chosen MacMillan Cancer Support as their nominated charity for 2011, where all monies donated via the Farmers’ Markets charity boxes will be put towards maintaining MacMillan’s services on the Island. The Farmers’ Market will be at Tynwald Mills on Tynwald Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., returning again, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., for their usual weekly market day on Thursday, July 7th.
