Bigfish Blows A Typhoon From New Offices

by isleofman.com 4th July 2011
Office products supplier Bigfish, the Isle of Man’s leading printer specialist, is predicting unprecedented growth this year which has already seen the business double its staff and move into new state-of-the art offices in Douglas. “The fact our new offices are called Typhoon House says it all,” said sales and marketing director Debs Gwinnell. “We have grown year on year and now have around 6,000 customers and more contracts are in the pipeline.” The company, which has moved from Onchan where it was based for 14 years to Hills Meadow, off the Peel Road, recently won a major contract to support the Isle of Man Government for all network printers and multi-function devices. “Expansion means better product choice and greater levels of service for our customers,” said Ms Gwinnell. “Our growth has been organic and while we previously worked in a confined space we never confined our ideas nor our service levels. “The companies which have supported us are too numerous to mention but our move has demonstrated that there is a real sense of team Isle of Man with other businesses very much to the fore in offering their help and support.” Brian Osborn, production services manager with the Information Systems Division at the Department of Economic Development said: “We’re pleased to be working with Bigfish on the new contract to provide, support and maintain the Government’s MFD’s and networked printers. This contract will deliver real cost-savings for the Isle of Man Government while ensuring maintained and, in some areas, increased levels of service.” Managing director Geoff McCann, who set up the business from an office in Port St Mary in 1994, said they had been looking for the right premises for the past five years during which time storage facilities were spread across three sites. “I wasn’t looking for a barn or shed but something stylish with plenty of glass and that’s what we have got, along with 45,000 cubic feet of storage space coupled with spacious light and airy office space. “ Ends
