The club’s Friday Morning Ladies Group held a very successful Strawberry Coffee Morning last week and raised ?140 for Breast Cancer Care. There were strawberries everywhere and delicious home baking. This group is a thriving part of the club and during the year they raise a lot of money for charity plus funds for clubhouse improvements. Anyone interested in joining them for tennis and coffee can contact Fran Shacklock tel. 624911. The organizers of this event, Sue Edwards and Hilary Power are to be congratulated on the result. Wessex Junior Open commenced this week and play will continue to Finals Day on Sunday. Spectators are always welcome at club events, refreshments are available and our juniors are worth watching. His Excellency Lt Governor Adam Wood and his wife Ms Katie Richardson will be visiting the event on Friday, informally, to watch some of the matches. Prizes will be presented on Finals day Sunday Jully 10 by Adrian Christian MD of Wessex Garage. The Manx branch of the British Heart Foundation have provisionally fixed Monday August 8 for the fundraising mixed doubles tournament. Further details next week. ENDS
