Trinity Methodist Church Celebrate With Chamber Concert

Trinity Methodist Church continues to celebrate its 125 years of Christian Witness with a Chamber concert by members of the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra. The concert will take place on Sunday 17th July at 3pm at Trinity Methodist Church. The programme, under the baton of Maurice Powell and leadership of William Pickering, will include highlights such as Saint Saens’ Cello Concerto no.1 with former Young Musician of Mann Eleanor Jones as soloist, Handel’s Organ Concerto ‘The Cuckoo and the Nightingale’ and Albinoni’s haunting Adagio, both with organ soloist John Riley, along with favourite extracts from Handel’s Water Music and Pergolesi’s beautiful Stabat Mater, with top soloists Karen Elliott (soprano) and Adrienne Murray (mezzo soprano.) Sue Collier Chairman of the 125 Committee said, “We are delighted that the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra agreed to be part of our 125 year of celebrations. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to hear such as varied orchestral programme and to hear organ and orchestra together here on the Island. We very much look forward to welcoming you.” Tickets are priced just ?5 including light refreshments and can be purchased by telephoning Sue and Geoff Collier on 852364. Janet Warburton, Secretary of Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra said,” We are delighted to be take part in Trinity Methodist Church’s 125th year of celebrations. We enjoy playing as a Chamber Orchestra and look forward to playing in such an historic and beautiful location.” Trinity Methodist Church is celebrating its 125 years of Christian witness with special services and social events taking place throughout the year. Plans for the coming months include an outdoor songs of praise and family picnic at Nobles Park bandstand (14th August at 3pm) and a special service for Samhain, the celebration of the Celtic New Year (30th October.) Trinity Methodist church has over 10 groups ranging from the Men’s Java group, sporty church for children aged 7 to 11 years, book club to home groups and noisy church. Services take place each Sunday at 1030 (which include Sunday school.) Everyone will receive a warm welcome and If you have not been to church for many years, we think you will be pleasantly surprised by the changes you will find.
