Medis Regulatory Affairs Assistant, Lucy Partington has taken the Summer out to visit Camp America in Chicago Illinois. Camp America is a chance to live & working either with children or 'behind the scenes' as support staff on an American Summer Camp. Lucy, will be working with children diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She will be on hand to assist any camp counseling, as well as partaking and helping to run team activities, sports and outings.
Lucy has been to America before, on holiday, and it’s not just the country that will be familiar to Lucy as she has previous experience in working with children with learning disabilities. Lucy has done previous volunteer work with the Children’s Resource Centre in Ramsey.
After spending 3 months in America, assisting one of their summer camps, Lucy will be returning to start a 3 year course in Speech and Language Therapy at Newcastle University. Working with children with disabilities is something that Lucy Partington has a particular interest in; reflecting on her time at Medis Lucy said,
“Working at Medis, has prepared me well for university and my future career prospects. It has been very interesting working on the pharmaceutical side of things and in my role as Regulatory Affairs Assistant, attention to detail is absolutely essential, which I find is also true when working with children, and I imagine the same is true for university life!”
On completing her degree Lucy Partington has expressed a wish to go on to do further work alongside children with learning disabilities; Camp America is something that she feels will help greatly with her career ambitions.
Stuart Colligon, Medis’ Managing director commented on Lucy’s departure by stating,
“We are glad to have had Lucy for the time that she was here and that we could help facilitate and further ambitions. We wish her all the best with her time in America and her future studies at university.”
