As part of its commitment to continuing professional development Scottish Widows provides in-house tutoring to colleagues studying for CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment) professional qualifications.
The coaching has been delivered for a number of years by senior manager Juan Clarke, one of only a few investment professionals in the Island to hold CISI Chartered Fellow status.
Mr Clarke, who is currently tutoring colleagues studying for the first module of the CISI investment operations certificate, said: ‘I’m absolutely passionate about helping drive up industry standards by encouraging colleagues to study for professional qualifications that will enhance their careers. The advantage of the in-house sessions is that they provide an opportunity for our people to share study experiences and discuss common themes, with my role being that of facilitator.
‘In preparing for these exams colleagues come to appreciate the wider investment world while, from Scottish Widows’ point of view, it’s about helping raise professional standards in an industry where qualifications are essential. Importantly, a dedicated team of colleagues equipped with what are recognised as the investment industry’s benchmark qualifications lends heightened credibility to the Scottish Widows customer proposition when dealing with intermediaries.’
