Police are able to inform that the victim, a 61 year old male from Douglas, from this morning’s incident has undergone surgery and remains in a critical condition. At this time a 22 year old male also from Douglas remains in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder. A police spokesman said; ‘ We have a big debt of gratitude to the public, who have had their day considerably disrupted by the road closures that we have had in place whilst we investigate this serious incident. These decisions are not taken lightly, and we do appreciate the impact they have. ‘ At this time, Athol Street is now open to traffic. Upper Church St is closed from Athol St to its Junction with Hill St. ENDS
