Family Win Tynwald Day competition.

by isleofman.com 14th July 2011
Peel family wins Tynwald Day competition Sara Ayres, husband Jonathan and their daughters Kitty, five, Ealish four and Onnee, two and a half, were presented with their prize of ?100 by outgoing President of Tynwald, Noel Cringle OBE, MLC on Monday July 11. Performing one of his last official duties as President Mr Cringle congratulated the family and explained that this year’s traditional President’s tiebreaker question, the answer to which was Mona Douglas, had proved a challenge to many entrants. Mrs Ayres, a teacher at Ballasalla Primary School, said: ‘I’m proud to be Manx and my husband, who is head teacher at Arbory School, is an accomplished Manx speaker. We go to the Tynwald Day fair every year and always enter the competition but have never won before. We were certain of the answer to the tiebreaker but I’m sure what helped secure our win was when Ealish kissed our completed entry form just before we put it in the special post box.’ ENDS
