Royal London 360 Youth Cycling League - Round 13 - Report & Results

by isleofman.com 14th July 2011
Round 13 of the Royal London 360 children's cycling league was staged at the NSC last Tuesday night in ideal conditions. The 319 youngsters who took part in the event produced some exciting racing for the spectators and two film crews who were recording the action. Proving that his maiden victory in the previous round was no fluke, relative newcomer Alexander Galloway rode away from the large field to claim his second success in the novices class. Overall leader Peter Lloyd salvaged second ahead of Matthew Gledhill, Lisa Martin and Rebecca Walmsley, with Jemma Quayle overcoming Kate Morris, Sophie Keen, Aoife Hartley and Belinda Dennett in the battle for sixth. In the born 2006 & later age group Zachaey Dowson went from the gun and was never seen again. Jack Keenan got the better of Cian Jackson for the runners-up spot and David Sargent beat Kazu Senior for fourth. Corey Peters outgunned Ivan Sorby and Drystan Sewell for sixth, while Harry Fox got the better of Harry Callin to grab ninth. Lucy Barnett was the first girl in 18th place. Picking up his ninth win of the series, Harry Kneen was too strong for breakaway partners Niall Colquitt, Oliver Corkish and Mairi Harrison in the closing stages of the born 2005 race. Jacob O'Boyle took fifth ahead of fellow chasers Chloe Dillon, Bradley Kneen, Tom Corrin, Luca Moretta, Nathan Cannell and James Scott, with Chloe Comaish edging out Harvey Coole to round off the top twelve leader board, A last lap attack gave Dillon Dowson a comfortable victory in the born 2004 category. Zac Walker was a solid second and Oliver Harrison beat Ralf Holden in the tussle for third. Joshua Dudley beat twin brother Cameron in the race for fifth and James Devereau led Nathan Slack, Daniel Keen, Billy Kennedy and Joshua Kelly home for seventh. Callum Crellin was twelfth and Mia Worthington the leading girl in 13th spot. Jake Wilson came from behind to pip Percy Hampton for maximum points in the born 2003 class, maintaining his challenge for the overall honours. Jonty Bregazzi outsprinted fellow chasers Jack Christian, Thomas Skillicorn and Matthew Black for the final podium position and Jamie Gelling got the verdict over Darcy Cain and Ryan Quirk in the gallop for seventh. Jack Collister completed the top ten. In the born 2002 event winner Aaron Lund had to work hard to get past Will Corkill in the final sprint for the line. James Harrison got away from Nicholas Kissack and Corrin Leeming to secure third, with top girl Blae Cain shading Jack Whitelegg for sixth. Louis Dean did well to take eighth - his best result to date - from Charlie Moss and Nathanael Tyson. Juan Kneen powered away from Emma Draper, Max Walker and Cullen Gell to record his second success in the born 2001 three lapper, while Sam Batey outsprinted Adam Kelly, Tara Ferguson, Sam Mills, Ben Christian, Abby Quirk and Lucas Mudie to notch up his maiden win in the born 2000 & earlier grouping. Eight riders were in with a chance of victory in the under 10 racing bikes, but at the finish it was Peel's Tosh Teare who took the chequered flag ahead of Conor Gelling, Max Walker, Percy Hampton, Jake Wilson, Adam Scarffe, Will Corkill and Aaron Lund. Ninth place went to Juan Kneen and Emily Bridson took the girls' prize in a very good tenth position. William Draper overcame a strong challenge from Conor Davies to take the top slot in the under 12 racing bikes. Charlie Gibson led Thomas Bostock, Eleanor Davies and Adam Kelly in for third and Liam McCann snatched seventh from Sam Batey. In the under 16 racing bikes Jamie Dudley and Joshua Knights escaped from a leading group of seven riders and stayed clear to the finish where Dudley took the sprint for his second win in succession. Nicholas Corlett beat Matthew Davies to the line for third, with Nathan Draper the leading under 14 category rider in a fine fifth place. Anna Christian was the first girl in tenth spot ROYAL LONDON 360 YOUTH LEAGUE - ROUND 13 - TUESDAY, 12th JULY 2011 NOVICES 1. Alexander Galloway 2. Peter Lloyd 3. Matthew Gledhill 4.
