Lions Club Manx Children in Need "Art from Photographs"

by isleofman.com 15th July 2011
There are just two weeks left for photographers in the Island to get their entries in for the Isle of Man Lions Club Manx Children in Need "Art from Photographs" competition and have their winning entries featured in a calendar. There are three categories to enter - professionals (who have been allocated three months of the calendar), amateurs (who have six months) and under 16s (who have three months). Entry forms and rules of the competition are available from photo clubs, schools, members of the Lions Club or the Lions Club website - www.iomlions.org The idea of the competition is to showcase the manipulation of digital photos into works of art using any of the many software packages available. All images must be taken and manipulated by the entrant and no third party images or clipart may be added. Entries for the competition, supplied as prints no smaller than 7" x 5", together with a thumbnail of the original photo and a brief description of the software and method used, should be sent to "Lions Club Art from Photography Competition", c/o 19 Sunnydale Avenue, Port Erin IM9 6EU and should be received before the closing date of 31st July, 2011. The winners of the classes will be notified during August and the calender will be on sale in September. An independent jury of three experienced judges will carry out the judging without knowing who has submitted the entries. There will be 11 prizes for the entrants whose artwork is chosen for the calendar with a larger prize awarded by the judges for the best overall image. Firms or individuals who would like to help in sponsoring the awards can contact the Lions Club on 661838 and there will be a page on the calender dedicated to sponsors. All monies raised from the sale of the calendars stays on the Island supporting the on-going work of the Manx Children in Need Appeal. ENDS
