It’s all change for the One World Centre. Having relocated from Castletown to the old DAFF headquarters at St Johns, the charity has just appointed a new Director, Rosemary Clarke. For the last 12 years Rosemary has run a similar development education centre in Milton Keynes. Her working life began in a Hertfordshire comprehensive where she taught geography and most of her subsquent career has been in education and communications, including time working in Ethiopia, northern Iraq and Mozambique. ‘I am very much looking forward to this new challenge, and to living and working in such a beautiful and unique place as the Isle of Man,’ said Rosemary. Phil Craine, chair of the One World Centre management committee, commented, ‘We are delighted to have Rosemary on board. She brings a wealth of experience to the role, as well as a deep commitment to addressing ethical and environmental challenges in our globalised world.’ The One World Centre’s previous home was in Castletown, courtesy of the Manx Co-operative. Now the charity is neighbour to the Department of Food and Agriculture, with its fantastic new building in the tranquil gardens of Thie Garey Ny Cloie. Phil Craine added, ‘We are very grateful to DEFA for so generously giving us a new home in such a wonderful setting, as well as to the long-standing and continuing support of the Co-op.’ – Ends –
