by isleofman.com 19th July 2011
- Manx Radio team find the right frequency! The Manx Radio team won Sunday's Manx2.com Charity Plane Pull at Isle of Man Airport to raise money for Hospice Isle of Man. A total of eight teams of volunteers from Celton Manx, Barclays Wealth, Freedom Travel, Manx Radio, Hospice Shops and Manx2.com took part in the challenge, on a less than summery day, pulling a five tonne aircraft over a 40 metre uphill course. Manx Radio recorded a time of 19.80 seconds with runners up Barclay Wealth team ‘Mice not Men’ half a second behind. Third place went to Barclays Wealth’s ‘Queen Vic’ team. Noel Hayes, Chairman of Manx2.com presented all participants with a specially-commissioned slate plaque supplied by Rosie Glassey at Pooil Vaaish. “The Manx Radio team just pipped the other teams – seemingly able to tune in to the right frequency required to pull the plane faster than anyone else! Well done and thank you to all the teams.” Carl Lawrenson from runners-up Barclays Wealth congratulated the Manx Radio team on their narrow victory adding: “Hopefully their muscles don’t ‘mega hertz’ this morning.” So far in excess of ?3,000 has been raised for Hospice Isle of Man from the event with a final figure soon to be announced.
