by isleofman.com 20th July 2011
ISO QA, the leading Isle of Man ISO and business process company has expanded with the appointment of Dr David Horton in the role of Business Efficiency Professional. Dr Horton moved to the Island in 2007 following a long and distinguished career at the head of a number of UK engineering companies and latterly as an independent business consultant and interim manager. ISO is an internationally recognised approach used to improve business processes. The system uses a continuous improvement philosophy to deliver tangible benefits to any organisation in areas such as Environmental Management, Energy Strategies, Quality Management, Business Efficiencies and Information Security. The appointment will utilise Dr Horton’s wealth of experience and qualifications to meet the demand for ISO services on Island and expand the range of services available through ISO QA. Crisis management, lean manufacturing, transition and turnaround are all hot industry topics that Dr Horton’s appointment will bring to local businesses. Kevin Burnell, managing director of ISO QA said, “The demand for ISO services has grown steadily over recent years and the addition of David to the team is an important move for the business. It is rare to find someone with David’s knowledge and experience on the Island, which I’m positive will be of huge interest and benefit to many local companies.” Dr Horton’s ISO experience began as early as the 1980’s when, as the managing director of an automotive products company, he wrote and implemented their ISO 9001 quality management system. Since then he has built on his experience working at the top of his industry including his role as Head of Quality for a major defence agency operating a ?200M business across 8 sites. Commenting on his appointment Dr Horton added, “I am delighted to be joining the ISO QA team and I am looking forward to utilising my skills across the broad range of industries on the Isle of Man. ISO QA is a perfect fit for me and I can see huge potential for the services available through the company on the Island.” Alongside his directorship and ISO experience Dr Horton has an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA and PhD in Business Management. Dr Horton has been a life long lover of the Isle of Man, all starting from his racing on the Southern 100 circuit with the British Kart Team in the 1970’s. - Ends -
