Lloyds TSB Offshore held a wellbeing week for their staff in the Isle of Man, raising the importance of wellbeing in areas such as resilience and healthy eating. The event which took place the week of 11th July saw colleagues and other local businesses join forces to highlight the value of good health.
The week supported a Group lead initiative called “Feeling Good About Ourselves”. The initiative covers four key areas: Feeling in control, Feeling Well, Feeling Developed and Feeling Supported. Colleagues have been granted access to internal and external help to manage their well being ranging from e-learning to information on how to arrange health checks.
The wellbeing week launched the group initiative with great momentum and included several fun activities involving local businesses and organisations, aimed at raising awareness and supporting colleagues. Highlights included demonstrations on how to improve workstation posture with Rosemary O’Donohue from Work Well Therapies. Rosemary also treated a few colleagues to some acupressure treatments and provided some great exercise techniques that colleagues can use at their desks to avoid neck and back injuries.
Myrtle Dubost from St Johns Ambulance popped in to provide a session on First Aid and Carer Support. Carer Support is a free programme recently launched providing carers with emotional and practical support.
Thursday afternoon saw the Lloyds office transformed into a circuit training course by Gianni Epifani from the National Sports Centre. Gianni advised colleagues on how to get involved with sport as well as giving away NSC vouchers for the gym and pool.
Annie Anderson, a User Acceptance test manager for the bank ran an introduction to yoga class on Friday morning. As a professional yoga instructor, her session was a complete sell out with colleagues who attended to both inquire and partake in the session.
In addition, the Well Being Wanderers, a new group set up by the Head of Premier & Direct Sales at Lloyds TSB Offshore, Ranald Caldwell held their first meeting during the week. Ranald is a qualified hike leader and plans to take colleagues on 8 to 10 mile walks around the Island. Over 25 colleagues will partake in the first walk in August with more walks already planned for the year.
Human Resources Manager, Karen Watson commented: “As an employer, we recognise that the demands on colleagues both inside and out of work are increasing so it’s more important than ever that we find ways to handle those pressures. This week has raised awareness about what’s on offer out there and what colleagues can do to take care of themselves. We had a lot of fun and I would like to thank all those who came along to the sessions – in particular to those who donated their time in running sessions for us”
Lloyds TSB are also planning an Isle of Man wellbeing forum which will be up and running soon. The Forum will explore ways to make Well Being an every day part of life for the 620 Isle of Man based colleagues.
