Manx National Heritage is teaming up with The Promenade Church in Douglas to run a short series of free summer heritage talks on Monday evenings in August.
The Promenade Church heritage talks have been running for a number of years and are always popular with tourists and locals. This year’s talks include the opportunity to delve into the Manx national photographic collections with Wendy Thirkettle, explore the Manx quilt and sampler collection with Yvonne Cresswell and find out about our track record of protest and progress at the annual Tynwald ceremony with Hannah Gerrard in illustrated presentations. If all this sounds like hard work why not relax with Katie King as she tells you about the Isle of Man in its heyday as a ‘Holiday Island’. Frank Cowin will present the final talk on Manx Miscellany.
The talks take place at The Promenade Church, Douglas at 7.45pm every Monday in August, starting on 1st August to 29th August 2011. Admission is free and refreshments will be served following the talks.
