Ramsey Town Commissioners Announce Appointment To New Housing and Property Manager post

by isleofman.com 27th July 2011
Marlene Hendy has been appointed to the post of housing and property manager with Ramsey Town Commissioners, a role in which she will also be overseeing the provision of administrative and maintenance services to the Ramsey and Northern Districts housing committee, the body responsible for local authority sheltered housing in the north of the Island. Having trained as a chartered architect, Mrs Hendy has worked for the Commission and the sheltered housing committee since 2004 as housing officer, tenant liaison officer in connection with the redevelopment of the former Lezayre Estate, and also as joint clerk to the sheltered housing authority. Her new post follows a recent review of the former property manager and housing officer roles and the restructuring of the Commission’s housing administration and maintenance sections, which Mrs Hendy will now lead. Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘I am delighted Marlene has accepted this new position. The Commission is fortunate to have such an eminently suitable officer whose breadth of skills and expertise will bring strength and direction to this new and vitally important role of contributing to the provision of affordable quality public sector housing for the people of Ramsey’. Mary Bruce, chairman of the Ramsey and Northern Districts housing committee echoed Captain Malpass’s sentiments. She said: ‘My committee is very pleased with Marlene’s appointment to this role and see it as a positive step forward in making the best use of available staff and operational resources to provide a high quality of service in the current economic climate. Mrs Hendy added: ‘I am very pleased to have been entrusted with this wider area of responsibility and am looking forward to the challenges ahead. My predecessor in the properties section, Ray Parry, will be a hard act to follow and I do not underestimate the hard work ahead of me in maintaining the high standards already in place, especially in this climate of budget cuts. I trust that all my colleagues will be patient as I settle into this new and demanding role’. ENDS
