Royal London 360 Youth Cycling League - Round 15

by isleofman.com 28th July 2011
A total of 284 competitors turned out at a sun-kissed NSC last Tuesday night for round 15 of the Royal London 360 youth cycling league. Relative newcomer Alexander Galloway powered away from the field to score a fine solo victory in the novices class. Jemma Quayle was a clear second ahead of Rebecca Walmsley and Kate Morris, with T.J. Teare pipping Orry Wilson in the bunch gallop for fifth. Eddy Dillon, Sydney Patterson, Ellie Caine and Aoife Hartley completed the top ten. In the born 2006 & later age group Corey Peters outsprinted Zachary Dowson, Ivan Sorby and Cian Jackson to increase his tally of wins to four. Kazu Senior was a solid fifth and Edward Marsh led Harry Fox home for sixth. Peter Cope had the edge on Corbin Stewart, Ryan Edwards, Alfie Swales and Nathan Kinrade in the battle for eighth, while 13th placed Lucy Barnett beat Hollie Palmer to the line for the girls' prize. Harry Kneen rode away from breakaway companions Mairi Harrison and Chloe Dylan to take the top slot in the born 2005 category. Nathan Cannell was a lonely fourth and Luke Saunders headed Frank Kinnish, James Scott and Teddy Dunn home for fifth. Albert Kessler held off Tom Corrin, Chloe Comaish, Bradley Kneen and impressive newcomer Thomas Bradley in the dash for ninth, with Robert Docherty and Emma Stratford close behind in 14th and 15th positions. A last lap turn of speed gave Dillon Dowson the advantage over Oliver Harrison and Ralf Holden in the closing stages of the born 2004 event. Joshua Dudley clipped off the front of the chasing pack to snatch fourth and twin brother Cameron got the verdict over Billy Kennedy in the bunch sprint for fifth. Mia Worthington, Megan Boardman and Jayden Stewart were the first three girls in 11th, 13th and 19th places respectively. Jake Wilson got the better of Percy Hampton in the gallop at the end of the born 2003 class. Jonty Bregazzi and Matthew Black were third and fourth and Thomas Skillicorn, who had been stuck in no-mans-land for most of the race, a good fifth. Ryan Quirk won his tussle with Jamie Gelling for sixth and Matthew Cooil forged ahead of Darcy Cain and Jack Collister to grab eighth. In the closest finish of the night Aaron Lund came from behind to snatch victory from Will Corkill and James Harrison. Leading girl Blae Cain beat Corrin Leeming for fourth and Nicholas Kissack overtook Nathanael Tyson on the finishing straight to take sixth. Charlie Moss, Louis Dean and Shellan Leeming rounded off the top ten leader board. After breaking away on the opening lap, Juan Kneen, Adam Scarffe and Emma Draper went on to fill all three podium positions in the poorly supported born 2001 race, while Matthew Draper attacked a leading group of twelve riders for a clear win in the born 2000 & earlier grouping. Adam Kelly took the runners-up spot from Sam Batey, Lucas Mudie and top girl Abby Quirk. All the racing bike events ended in bunch sprints. In the under 10's the ever improving Tosh Teare took the win from Will Corkill and Tyler Cain, with twelfth placed Charlie Moss edging out Emma Draper and Emily Bridson in the fight for the girls' honours. William Draper outsprinted Conor Davies, Thomas Bostock and Eleanor Davies for maximum points in the under 12's six lapper and Jake Kelly was too strong for Jamie Dudley and Josh Knights in the under 16's.
