The annual visit of the children from Belarus to the club proved once again to be fun and pleasure both for the 17 children, their interpreters and members who were involved either on court or with preparing and serving lunch. Under the guidance of club coach Ian Watson and with the help from members the children were given almost 2 hours coaching/play opportunities playing mini tennis in the indoor court. Ian is grateful to Joan (Budd), Joan( Butler), Atchara , Shelby and her visiting friends Trevor and Janice, Bryan, Val, Sally for the on-court help.
The children were given a splendid picnic lunch – yes all the naughty things we tell our own children not to eat! Co-ordinated by Fran and Barbara the food, donated by the Friday Ladies, was prepared and served by Fran, Barbara, Pat, Angela, Pauline plus those who had been on court. The children were presented with a club T shirt and left enjoying an ice lolly and shouting the loudest ever “Thank you very much”. The FCOC headed by Joan & Norman Rivers have already accepted the club’s invitation to return in 2012.
