by isleofman.com 1st August 2011
Last weekend’s inaugural Manx2.com Charity Plane Pull has raised over ?4,000 pounds for Hospice Isle of Man. Yesterday, (Thursday) Manx2.com Chairman Noel Hayes handed over a cheque for ?4,256.90 at Isle of Man Airport, joined by representatives from all eight teams who took part on the day. Teams from Celton Manx, Barclays Wealth, Freedom Travel, Manx Radio, Hospice Shops and Manx2.com attempted to pull a five tonne Manx2.com aircraft over a 40 metre uphill course. The fastest time of 19.80 seconds was recorded by the Manx Radio team, who just pipped the Barclays Wealth team ‘Mice not Men’ by half a second. Chairman of Manx2.com, Noel Hayes, said: ‘Manx2.com and Barclays Wealth have chosen Hospice Isle of Man as our Charity of the Year so we can support the tremendous work it does within our community. We all had great fun getting cold and wet pulling the plane and I’d like to thank all the teams who took part. The competition was very keenly contested and the teams are already talking about a re-match next year!” Chief Executive for Hospice, Margaret Simpson said: ‘The plane pull was a wonderful event and we’re extremely grateful to Manx2.com for organising it. The support it received from both the competitors and the general public was fantastic and we hope this becomes an annual event!’ To follow Manx2.com on twitter: http://twitter.com/FlyManx2 And on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/FlyManx2 ENDS
