Barclays Wealth was pleased to support the Junior Chamber Commerce (JCC) 20th anniversary black-tie dinner on the 8th July.
Attending along with local patron and special guest His Excellency Lieutenant Governor Mr Adam Wood, guest speaker for the evening was well-known television and radio journalist and broadcaster John Sergeant.
Formally political editor of ITN, Mr Sergeant also spent 30 years with the BBC. As a reporter he covered conflicts in many parts of the world including Vietnam, the Middle East and Southern Africa before taking up the role of political correspondent. During his extensive career he also presented the BBC Radio 4 programmes ‘Today’ and ‘The World at One’. He has also made appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, The One Show and is currently featuring in a new three-part factual series for ITV1 called ‘John Sergeant’s Tourist Trail.’

He opened the floor to questions which came in thick and fast from the audience. He was asked about his thoughts on the coalition government, the phone hacking scandal, his time on ‘Strictly’ and some of his interesting assignments for The One Show.
JCC Chairman Alexander Duffy said: ‘We were delighted to welcome such a well-known and respected broadcaster to speak at this landmark event. Mr Sergeant was both informative and amusing and was very well received by the JCC members and guests.
Once again I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Barclays Wealth, whose support has been unwavering since becoming our first corporate member in 2009.’
