Going for Gold

by isleofman.com 2nd August 2011
Three of Broadway Baptist Church’s young people have been presented with their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award by His Excellency Lieutenant Governor Mr Adam Wood. Liz Coase, Jonathan Rowlands and Joel Rowlands faced a grueling 4 day expedition in the Lake District under the supervision of group leaders Debbie Carcas and John Harris. “It is a great achievement for the three of them, they have worked extremely hard and both myself and Debbie are extremely proud of what they have achieved” commented John. This weekend sees another nine young people from Broadway set out on their Silver Expedition with a group of 10 young people heading of across the water to the Lake District to take part in Gold Expeditions. “We always pray for the groups before they set out on their expeditions. There are currently close to 30 young people in The Foundry Duke of Edinburgh Award group through which is split 50/50 between churched and non churched young people” ENDS
