by isleofman.com 4th August 2011
There was another good turnout of 283 competitors for round 16 of Royal London 360 children's cycling league, staged at the NSC last Tuesday night in reasonably good conditions. Alexander Galloway continued his recent domination of the novices class, powering away from the field for his fifth win in a row. Leading girl Jemma Quayle was a clear second, with Kate Morris holding off chasers Sophie Keen, Lexi Gibson and Joseph Corlett for third. T.J.Teare outgunned Eddy Dillon, James Gale and Sydney Patterson in the dash for seventh and Rubi Skillen stayed ahead of newcomer Ashton Quilliam, Alec Sorby and Megan Callin to claim 11th. In the born 2006 & later category Zachary Dowson led breakaway partners Cian Jackson, Ivan Sorby and Corey Peters over the line for his tenth success of the series. David Sargent trailed in for fifth and Kazu Senior beat Harry Callin and Harry Fox in the battle for the final place on the top six leader board. The girls' prize went to Lucy Barnett in 16th place. Harry Kneen overcame Niall Colquitt in the sprint at the end of the born 2005 race, with Mairi Harrison repelling a strong challenge from Chloe Dillon for third. Nathan Cannell pipped James Scott for fifth and Chloe Comaish maintained station ahead of Luca Moretta and Frank Kinnish for seventh. Tom Corrin rounded off the top ten. Continuing his recent run of good form, Oliver Harrison outsprinted Ralf Holden for his maiden victory in the born 2004 age group. Cameron Dudley overcame brother Joshua, Billy Kennedy, Adam Price, Nathan Slack and Daniel Keen in the gallop for third, with Joshua Clough and James Devereau close behind in ninth and tenth places respectively. First timer Joshua Leece finished a very good 13th and Mia Worthington was the top girl in 15th spot, just one place ahead of her nearest rival Kiera Prentice. Percy Hampton got the verdict over Jake Wilson in a very close finish to the born 2003 class. Jonty Bregazzi had the edge on Matthew Black in the dash for third and Jack Christian kept Thomas Skillicorn, Tyler Hannay and Jack Collister at bay for fifth. Ryan Quirk, Matthew Cooil and Freddie Ralston came in together for ninth, tenth and eleventh, with Megan Cannell finishing on her own to take the girls' honours in 12th place. In the born 2002 event Will Corkill went from the gun, taking the chequered flag with a commanding lead over runner-up James Harrison, who never gave up the chase. Nicholas Kissack got the better of Blae Cain, Nathanael Tyson, Shellan and Corrin Leeming in the sprint for third, while Charlie Moss salvaged eighth after loosing contact with the leaders on the final lap. Joshua Mills ousted Louis Dean for ninth and Deacon Lombard-Chibnall rode well on his NSC debut to take 11th ahead of Ethan Quirk and Fin Samson. Juan Kneen was too strong for fellow frontrunners Adam Scarffe and Emma Draper in the gallop at the end of the born 2001 three lapper. In the following born 2000 & earlier category Matthew Draper rode away from a five-strong leading group to take the victory by a comfortable margin from Tara Ferguson, Lucas Mudie and Sam Mills. Tosh Teare made an early attack in the under 10 racing bikes and then time trialled to a fine solo win. Aaron Lund headed Jake Wilson, Will Corkill and Adam Scarffe home for second and Percy Hampton overtook Juan Kneen in the closing stages to claim sixth. Emily Bridson was the first girl in 11th spot. In the under 12 racing bikes William Draper outsprinted breakaway partner Connor Davies to collect maximum points. Callum Claque took third from Charlie Gibson and Eleanor Davies, with newcomer Stephen Lane an impressive eighth in his very first outing. Jamie Dudley held the advantage over Josh Knights in the sprint at the end of the under 16 racing bikes. Leon Mazzone and Matthew Davies, who were the only two riders not to be lapped by the leading duo, were third and fourth, while Matthew Draper took the bunch gallop for fifth, ROYAL LONDON 360 YOUTH LEAGUE RESULTS - ROUND 16 - TUESDAY, 2nd AUGUST 2011 NOVICES 1.
