The new BlackBerry PlayBook is now available from Manx Telecom, the first retailer on the Island to offer the sought-after new device. The PlayBook is the latest high tech offering from the BlackBerry stable, well known for its iconic BlackBerry mobile phone which, thanks to its instant messaging and exceptional email abilities, is regarded by many business people as an essential tool. Weighing in at just 425g, and only 10 mm thick; the new PlayBook comes with a high resolution 7inch touchscreen display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 16GB of internal memory, plus the new BlackBerry Bridge feature which can link a BlackBerry device seamlessly to the PlayBook. Commenting, David Smith, Director of Marketing at Manx Telecom, said, “The BlackBerry Playbook will be the next logical step for many BlackBerry owners, and will also appeal to those new to BlackBerry. It’s Blackberry’s first ‘tablet’ and offers amazing functionality, including a seamless web browsing experience through Wi-Fi, true multitasking, document viewer, built in Flash player, HD multimedia, integrated Bluetooth technology and advanced security features. We expect there to be high demand for the new tablet, and that the PlayBook will become an integral part of the way many business people work and play.” One person who is already having the PlayBook experience is Mark Leslie, Financial Controller, at Sefton Group Plc. Mark won a PlayBook in a draw held recently at a business briefing for Manx Telecom corporate customers. “I was delighted to win,” said, Mark, “since then I’ve really enjoyed using the PlayBook, so much so that I now have a BlackBerry phone to complement it. They work well together and the PlayBook has lots of uses for business, especially when travelling, as it offers many features of a laptop in a compact tablet format.” The PlayBook will also be centre stage at a special event to be help on 7th September at which Manx Telecom will showcase BlackBerry’s latest technology, including the 9900 Bold Touch, 9360 Curve, and 9810, to invited members of the business community.
