Returning to the big screen for MGP fortnight only, the 1970’s film classic ‘Take it to the Limit’ will be showing at the Manx Museum Film Theatre, Monday to Saturday at 11am and 3pm. The film shows the magic of motorcycle sport in all its forms - a true "Classic".
Made by the acclaimed documentary film maker Peter Starr, this iconic film is a high-action snapshot featuring Mike Hailwood’s 1977 return to the Isle of Man, and a host of other motorcycling legends of the decade, filmed in the Isle of Man, UK and America.
During the 90 minute film speedway, scrambling, road racing, trials, and hill-climbing are filmed in a factual and humorous fashion using much ground-breaking (for its day) on-bike footage, the highlight of which is Mike Hailwood riding (and commentating) on a lap on a OW31 750 Yamaha during practice for the 1977 Manx Grand Prix, prior to his comeback victory in the 1978 Formula One TT.
Never available before in the UK, American producer Peter Starr has been very influential in bringing his most heralded feature film back to the Isle of Man during the biggest motorsport events in the calendar, TT and MGP. Half of the proceeds from the film showings will go toward his charity, the Prostate Cancer Education Foundation.
The film is showing twice daily Monday to Saturday from 20th August to 2nd September, shows start at 11am and 3pm at the Manx Museum. Entry is a suggested donation of ?5 (all proceeds go to the Prostate Cancer Education Foundation and The Manx Museum and National Trust).
