Government Continues To Comply With International ICT Quality Standards

by isleofman.com 18th August 2011
The Department of Economic Development’s Information Systems Division (ISD) has received full re-accreditation for both ISO 27001, in January, and ISO 20000. These are the internationally recognised quality standards for Information Security Management and for IT Service Management, and the Isle of Man Government is unique within the worldwide public sector in having both passed and maintained these accreditations. Minister for Economic Development, Allan Bell MHK, commented: ‘I am committed to ensuring we deliver quality service, and as such I am pleased to see that independent external assessment has confirmed that ISD’s services comply with best practice in these areas.’ The accreditations last for three years and are reviewed twice yearly by independent assessors from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, as well as being subject to regular Internal Audit scrutiny within Government. ISD Director, Allan Paterson added: ‘The work to firstly achieve, and then subsequently, maintain these accreditations has been extremely worthwhile and, more importantly, has been bought into as normal working practice by the staff in ISD. As such, this continues to play a major part in ISD’s ability to increase its workload and contain its costs.’ Ends
