Palace Cinema To Be Refurbished Next Month

by isleofman.com 19th August 2011
Movie fans in the Isle of Man will be able to watch their silver screen heroes in increased luxury when the Palace Cinema is refurbished next month. Both theatres at the Palace will have contemporary new seating, which is being brought in from a specialist seating company in Australia. The seat is called the Activa Tilt Prima, which comes with cup holders, and they are bigger than the existing seats, which will add to viewers’ comfort. In addition, new vinyl and carpet has been sourced and will be fitted by local flooring company Allan C Swales Ltd, a specialist flooring contractor. To allow for the refurbishment, Palace Cinema will be closed between Monday 5th and Sunday 18th September, reopening to the public on Monday 19th September. Adrian Brockhouse, Sefton Group Director of Hotels and Leisure, explained: ‘We have been aware for a while now that the seating, flooring and decor within the two theatres has been looking a little tired. This project will revitalise the cinema-going experience in both Screen One and Screen Two. ‘I’m sure movie fans will find that the new facilities enhance the whole cinema experience, particularly as it comes on the back of a significant investment by Sefton Group plc in 2010, which saw new digital projectors installed, offering an improved viewing experience and ability to show 3D movies. ‘We are also looking at using Palace Cinema for future opportunities in corporate and association conferences, meetings and seminars.’ ENDS
