by isleofman.com 22nd August 2011
Peel lifeboat has been launched twice in two days, both times to boats with engine related problems. On Thursday 18th August Ruby Clery was launched at 4 15pm to assist a small day boat which had broken down 1.5 miles NNW of Peel. A member of the public had spotted a flare and the lifeboat under the command of 2nd. Cox John Hunter soon located the Peel registered boat and towed it and its two occupants back to Peel. The following day Friday the lifeboat launched at 1.50pm again under the command of 2nd. Cox John Hunter to assist a yacht on passage from Ramsey to Peel. The yachts prop had become fouled by a rope and was unable to make headway in a strong SSW wind. The boat was found NE off Peel near Ballaugh taken in tow and returned to Peel where the volunteer lifeboat crew assisted in mooring the boat in the harbour. Ends
