Sponsored Walk

by isleofman.com 25th August 2011
Edric Cross one of Arg Beiyn’s senior vets has recently completed a sponsored walk in the Alps. Over 21 days he walked 400 miles along the GR5 footpath from Thonon-les-Bains on the shores of Lake Geneva to Nice on the Mediterranean coast. Walking alone and carrying all his provisions and camping equipment he completed the journey with almost a day to spare. Averaging 20 miles often climbing and then descending more than 1000 metres a day proved a tough but enjoyable challenge. Edric says that the walk was fantastic though his feet will take a little time to recover. He says “The weather could have been kinder and I lost 10kg in weight over the three weeks. I would like to thank all the generous people who sponsored me for this challenge. In total ?800 has been raised which is to be split equally between Pets Aid League and Riding for the Disabled.” ENDS
