Team Royal London 360 Cyclists Impress at British Youth Track Champs

by isleofman.com 30th August 2011
There were some very good performances from the five Royal London 360 riders who travelled to the Manchester velodrome last week for the British national youth track championships. The under 12 and under 14 titles were decided in omnium competitions consisting of a 1500m individual pursuit, a sprint race, a 500m time trial and a scratch race (under 14's only). In the under 12 girls event on Sunday Eleanor Davies was sixth in the pursuit, seventh in the sprint and sixth in the time trial for sixth place overall - a great result considering that it was only her second competitive outing "on the boards". William Draper went in the under 12 boys and did well as one of the youngest riders in the class to take tenth in the pursuit, 12th in the sprint and 14th in the time trial for a hard earned 13th overall. The under 14 omniums were run on the Monday with Victoria Kinrade finishing an excellent third in the pursuit, 13th in the sprint, 8th in the scratch race and time trial for eighth overall in the girls competition. Nathan Draper finished 24th and 29th respectively in the boys' pursuit and sprint but had to leave before the final two races to catch the evening boat home. British Cycling Team member Jake Kelly competed in the under 16 boys individual championships, finishing 11th in the 500m time trial, 12th in the scratch race and 13th in the pursuit. ENDS
