Celton Manx and Douglas Borough Council are teaming up to host two of Douglas’ most high-profile events in 2011. Celton Manx will be the main sponsor of the Douglas fireworks display taking place on the 5th November and the Christmas Lights Ceremony on the 24th November.
Each year hundreds of people flock to Douglas promenade to witness the traditional bonfire night display put on by the Douglas Borough Council. This year, due to tides, the display will be set off from a barge in the bay resulting in a fantastic show clearly visible from headland to headland.
The Douglas Christmas Lights ceremony is always a colourful affair with pantomime characters, singing and dancing, a lantern parade and a snow machine before the all-important switching on of the Christmas lights by the Mayor of Douglas to really get everyone in the festive spirit.
Celton Manx will be working closely with the Council and its event media partner 3FM, to make both occasions great fun for all the family.
Executive Director of Celton Manx, Bill Mummery said: ‘It is fantastic to be involved with two of the most anticipated events in the Douglas community calendar. We are moving into our new Global Headquarters at the Isle of Man Business Park in September and although we will be sad to leave Castletown, we are excited to be moving to our new home in Douglas. We are dedicated to supporting the community in which we operate and the support of these Douglas Borough Council events is a great way for us to celebrate our relocation.’
Douglas Borough Council Leader Councillor David Christian said: ‘We are delighted to be welcoming Celton Manx as the main sponsor for these two headline events. The fireworks and Christmas lights ceremony are stalwarts in the Douglas events calendar and we are very much looking forward to working with Celton Manx on planning the events over the coming months.’
